so these are my parents and today they've been married for 35 years.
my father was a full-time pastor until a few years ago when he retired. my mother was his side-kick. they'd go to hospitals together, to visit the sick together, to the church office together.
and after all they've been through, they're still in love.
happy anniversary mom and dad!
ok, not exactly a jet plane. more like a dodge durango. but you get my point.
i'm purposely leaving my computer in louisville this weekend. no myspace. no facebook. no blog. no RSS reader. just time away from, well, time away from everything really. but i will be on twitter.
so follow me.
yes, my friends, you read the title of this post correctly. it is a week of hot sex. but since i'm not married, i won't be participating.
sigh.
however, the discussions this week over at the deadly viper blog are pretty interesting. go check it out for yourself.
it's been seven years.
seven long years since i was in africa last.
this was our house on endclay. i had the middle room on the bottom floor. it was situated between the bathroom and another bedroom. i didn't have a bed per se, but a mattress on the floor. one evening before bed, i pulled down the covers to find a cockroach, a lizard and a mammoth spider all fighting over who got to sleep with me.
several mornings i woke up to the neighbor kids singing "row, row, row your boat gently down the stream. if you see a crocodile, don't forget to scream." the parents of those kids invited us over for dinner one evening and served sardine curry. yes, you read that correctly. sardine curry. not nearly as good as it sounds.
i miss it.
cockroaches, spiders, sardine curry and all.
i got a haircut on friday. but nobody noticed. so it'll have to be more drastic next time i guess. _____
i showed my family this video from MinSoFab. it's a good blog and a good video. go watch it. _____
on saturday, we had a party for my aunt and uncle and it was fun. lots of family. lots of friends. lots of people i didn't know. and punch. lots of good punch. _____
this morning we went to my grandparents church. it's an old-time-pentecostal-sing-out-of-a-redback-hymnal kind of church. good times, good times. _____
i sinned this weekend. for real. one of the seven deadly sins as a matter of fact. it rhymes with...well... gluttony doesn't really rhyme with anything. _____
ok, that was only 30 seconds.
you're welcome.
o karma, dharma, pudding and pie, gimme a break before i die: grant me wisdom, will, & wit, purity, probity, pluck, & grit. Trustworthy, loyal, helpful, kind, gimme great abs & a steel-trap mind, and forgive, Ye Gods, some humble advice - these little blessing would suffice to beget an earthly paradise: make the bad people good - and the good people nice; and before our world goes over the brink, teach the believers how to think.
so i haven't blogged much lately. not because i haven't had anything to say, but i've had problems putting my thoughts into words. call it mental constipation if you like. i just can't seem to tactfully get it out.
stay tuned.
so this is how i spent my evening. i played cornhole along with about forty 18-30ish peeps from church.
the score was 16-0. strothman and i were ahead. then the cornhole gods decided to take a dump on us and the other team came back and won.
next time. next time.
i don't read my Bible every day.
there. the truth is out.
it's not that i don't want to, it's just that i'll think about it when i'm driving down the road. or on the toilet. or in the middle of a conference call. i think about it when i don't have my Bible handy. then when my Bible is handy, i don't think about it.
but i recently found YouVersion, which is "a revolutionary online Bible that enables community and collaboration like never before." the main YouVersion site is OK, but i really like the mobile YouVersion - especially on the iPhone.
now i can read the Bible, in my choice of versions, wherever i happen to be.
ahhh. i love technology. and the B-I-B-L-E.
