deadly viper character assassins
i got this book in the mail this week and have all ready finished it. it's one of the best books i've read in a very long time.
warning: holier-than-thou's and people who cannot handle the truth should stop reading now. you will be offended.
so here's the truth: it sucks being single and horny.

fighter of crime
my father had a wreck today in ohio. he recounted the incident to me and it went something like this:
BOOM!!!!! woman driving erratically hits dad as he goes to pick up his lunch. dad gets out of his truck.
dad: what do you think you're doing!?!?!? woman: my car's been acting up lately.
dad smells woman for alcohol.
dad: acting up my foot! you're on something! pull over in the parking lot. i'm calling the police.
woman gets back in car and pulls over. dad calls 911. a minute later the po-po show up and talk to both of them. a few more minutes later the police tell dad that he can leave. the woman then goes to jail.
you didn't know that brother-bishop-reverend noe was a fighter of crime, did you?

stab me
"if you're not willing to be bold with a few fellow friends to the point of risking the friendship, then your friendship has superficial value. oscar wilde once said, 'true friends stab you in the front'."

zaburi thelathini saba
"umtumaini Bwana ukatende mema, ukae katika nchi, upendezwe na uaminifu. nawe utajifurahisha kwa Bwana naye atakupa haja za moyo wako. umkabidhi Bwana njia yako, pia umtumaini, naye atafanya. ataitokeza haki yaho kama nuru, na hukumu yako kama adhuhuri. ukae kimya mbele za Bwana, nawe umngojee kwa saburi; usimkasirikie yeye afanikiwaye katika njia yake, wala mtu afanyaye hila."
random thoughts v10
i was leaving the store today and attempted a farewell greeting to the lady behind the counter, but it didn't turn out like i planned. i started to say "goodbye" and then mid-sentence my brain changed it to "buh-bye". it ended up coming out as "ga-buh-bye". the lady just looked confused. _____
church was cool today. the thing that sticks out the most is a concept pastor presented to us. the wise men were astrologers and God used a star to guide them to eight-pound-six-ounce baby Jesus. God revealed Himself to them in a manner they understood.. this is a crucial aspect of culture that missional churches too often miss. _____
warning: i'm about to get on a soapbox.
if you attend nvmc and you're able to walk twenty feet without having to sit down for a rest, would you please park at the government center!? i don't understand why regular, semi-healthy attenders feel the need to consistently park twelve feet from the front door. let a visitor park there for pete's sake!
now off my soapbox. _____
i went to the uk/uab game with a gal from church yesterday. i can't believe we lost!!! what's up with that!? it's bad enough to watch the wildcats lose on tv, but it's even worse in person. _____
there are two iPhones that now live in our house, but neither of them are mine. can i explain to you how incredibly jealous i am? for real. _____
next week i'll be leaving to go to florida for christmas and new years. oh yeah!

this pretty much sums it all up
i've hesitated on blogging about the murders of missionaries in colorado. if you've known me very long or have been reading this blog for very long, then you know that my one true passion in life is missions.
this may sound odd, but i expect violence when i'm traveling abroad. i've been in church before when we've had to evacuate because the villagers were throwing rocks through the window spaces of the church. i've been in places where we've had to turn the lights off at night so the locals wouldn't attack us. i've seen things and have escaped from situations that my family will NEVER know about. (they tend to worry.)
but in america? in my own country? what's happened to us?
1. God is in control 2. this could happen to anyone, anywhere 3. the war is real (that'll preach) 4. PRAY!
kudos to the family
a little over a year ago my sister and mother went back to college. this picture was from their first day at sullivan university. today was their last day at sullivan university. they're officially done with college.
if you see them at church or out and about, stop and congratulate them. they've done a good job (for the most part). ha!
i heard this at church today and thought it was priceless!
jehovacaine - noun; similiar to novacaine, but one that is supernaturally inspired to prevent the pentecostal from injuring themselves when the holy spirit comes upon them so strongly that they have no choice but to "fall out"; used in a sentence: i would have had a headache for days if it weren't for jehovacaine!

start thinking
if you don't know for whom you're going to vote for president in 2008, then check this out.
but i didn't intend to. and i didn't hunt with a rifle, but rather with my SUV. i was just trying to get to church but ended up picking up pieces of my vehicle off the side of the road with a police officer.
on the brighter side, i wasn't hurt, nobody else was hurt (except the buck) and i was only 10 minutes late for church.
...we waited for Him...
first, go read this blog entry then come back here. this will be our testimony:
"Look at what's happened! This is our God! We waited for him and he showed up and saved us! This God, the one we waited for! Let's celebrate, sing the joys of his salvation. God's hand rests on this mountain!"

i drank the facebook kool-aid
and subsequently realized that my circle of friends is quite diverse.
my friends are christian, buddhist, muslim, hindu and some other non-mainstream religions. they're white, black, red, yellow and a combination of colors. they're from south africa, mongolia, honduras, the bahamas and various other places. they're loud, introverted, obnoxious and reserved.
and i wouldn't have it any other way.

calling all nvmc'ers
if you're going to the nvmc christmas banquet tomorrow night, then you need to take some extra cash. why? to bid on the most bodacious basket ever to be auctioned off in the history of auctions.
the "don't let 'em go to hell in a hand-basket" basket contains:
