4 years today. 3218 american deaths since 19 march 2003.
i hate nextel text messaging
i received text messages all though the night last night that were obviously sent earlier in the day. they came through at 12:31am, 1:28am, 2:12am, 3:06am, 3:19am and 6:35am. needless to say, i didn't sleep well last night. not to mention i woke up once with the feet of my nephew literally on my face. yuck.
i'm turning off my ringer tonight.
hope there's not an emergency.

pure madness
march is one of my favorite times of the year. why? march madness. the only thing i did yesterday was watch college basketball. and i took a shower. and ate.
i was moved at church tonight. not because of the music. not because of the preacher. but because i saw a teenager jumping up and down during praise and worship. now the vast majority of our teenagers jump up and down during praise and worship, but this kid is different.
his mom and dad both have numerous physical, emotional and mental problems. and they're divorced. he was born with some developmental disabilities and is extremely proud to be "average". he's an only child and doesn't really have a relationship with his extended family. they're all wacko's.
i saw him in the front of the church tonight jumping up and down as fast as he could. his fat was jiggling all over the place. and i was so very proud of him.

dorks for jesus
so my family took a walk around the neighborhood tonight after dinner. by no intentional action of our own, we were all walking in a single-file line. after my sister yelled, "we're on a jericho march for jesus", we all lifted up our hands and started singing "everybody will be happy, will be happy over there..."
wow.

soliciting prayer
i'm facilitating a 7 hour meeting tomorrow that i'm a little nervous about. please pray for:
my face not to get too red. it does that when i'm nervous.
me not to stutter or stumble on my words
all of the technological components to work properly
me to have peace
the presentations to be embraced by the attendees

get out your pencils...
we should all write the board of trustees. now.
"LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) — Several members of the University of Kentucky's Board of Trustees expressed reluctance Tuesday to wade into any decision about the future of head basketball coach Tubby Smith. Board chairman James Hardymon said the matter should be left to Athletics Director Mitch Barnhart and the school's athletics board. He said the trustees, however, are generally opposed to big contract buyouts — and Smith could be owed around $4 million if his employment were terminated.
"The board is a big fan of honoring contracts," Hardymon said. "With our organization of 12,000 employees, the board would be crazy to get involved in any one thing like that."
Smith is in his 10th season coaching the Wildcats. While the team's 20-10 record almost certainly will fetch an NCAA Tournament berth, college basketball's winningest all-time team has failed to make the Final Four since its national championship run in 1998, Smith's first season."
the snake handling church we went to was in rural northern alabama. like down a dirt road and past the cows rural. somehow i was volunteered to take pictures of the handling. i made it to the fifth row or so and decided to use my zoom. being up close and personal with the rattlesnakes didn't bear witness with my spirit.
watch this video of a snake handling church somewhere in appalachia. i especially am fond of the guy in red pants, a white tuxedo shirt and a black vest around the 2:30 mark.
