    brrrrrrrrr

when i was in college, i had shoulder-length hair. and if you know me, you know that my hair is super curly and when it was wet it practically went down to my butt. my girlfriend wanted to see me with short hair, so i shaved it off. totally. bic'd it.

after the drastic change, one of my professors asked me to stay late after class. he looked very concerned and told me that i had until the end of the semester to turn in all of my work. i looked shocked, thanked him and asked why he had given me the extension. obviously concerned, he said "because you're sick." i laughed, told him i wasn't sick but that i'd still take him up on the offer to turn in all of my work by the end of the semester. since he jumped to conclusions without verifying anything, he held up on his end of the bargain.

people probably think i'm sick again. my hair was curly until this week. i got it shaved off again. not a slick head this time, but a nice grade 3 buzz cut.

    cough, cough.

i had to do something on friday that i really dreaded. the task put me to the test - mentally, emotionally, spiritually. i passed without trouble. asante sana Mungu.
    _____

my buddy got married today and i was a groomsman in his wedding. he introduced me to some of the (cute and single) bridesmaids. we flirted some. it was fun.
    _____

the line of text that scrolls along the bottom of the tv screens bugs the crap out of me sometimes! is it really necessary that we all know immediately that a 78 yr old actor has passed away? really?
    _____

i'm going camping next weekend and cannot wait. getting away from the phone, tv, computer sounds g-r-e-a-t just about now.
    _____

i'm pooped and need to go to bed. the wedding has drained me. good night.

    osama

we've had on "footsteps of bin laden" tonight with christiane amanpour or whatever her name is. where is she from by the way? what kind of accent is that? anyway... my eldest nephew asked me what would happen if we lost the war. how do you answer that? ummm...

i told him to ask his parents.

    EDIT:
ok, so now i've switched to tbn and i'm pretty sure juanita bynum can afford a better weave than the one she's got now. it's bad. real bad. for real. real bad.

    the ramsey kid

so it looks like john and patsy didn't do it after all. i'm glad they (supposedly) caught the dude who killed the little girl, don't get me wrong, but why does this case merit so much attention? what about all the kids who have had crimes committed against them that aren't rich and white? are their cases going on ten years after the crime was committed? i'm pretty sure not.

    hot in here

i'm questioning the intelligence of my family.

when i came home this evening, i noticed it was HOT in our house. i asked if they thought it was hot too and they said, "yeah, we've thought it's been kinda warm today." i went to check the thermostat and it was over 80 degrees inside. i went outside and the air conditioner wasn't running. at all. not one iota. but did anybody question it today? no.

    grrrrr.

    woo-hoo

i found amazing grace by jonathan kozol today. what's even better? right behind it, i found ordinary resurrections by the same author.

    what a day.

    camping

my family is going camping in a few weeks. we went to the campsite today and scoped out the place. good thing we did because the one we reserved was about as big as my bathroom. we were able to switch campsites though. fun times, fun times.

    random thoughts v5

i'm torn about israel. part of me says, israel is God's territory and we should always go with what they do. the other part of me thinks, come on israel! get a grip and stop bombing refugee camps! i'm also torn about lebanon. hezbollah is a terrorist organization, but has obvious control over the lebanese government. part of me thinks lebanon's prime minister should grow some balls and stand-up to them. the other part of me feels sorry for him if he chooses to do that.

my niece loves band-aids. seriously. my sister bought her some barbie band-aids today and she's been walking around putting them on people. well, only girl people, not boy people. boy people can't wear barbie band-aids she says.

cynthia mckinney of georgia might not get re-elected to the house of representatives. i don't live in georgia, but if i did i wouldn't vote for her. she hits security officials with her cell phone for pete's sake! zsa zsa gabore slapped a police officer with her hand and had to go to court. but not cynthia. no sir.

    _____
i can't find a book i've been wanting to re-read. amazing grace by jonathan kozol. excellent book. if you haven't read it, stop reading my random thoughts and go buy it. and read it. then read it again.

    _____
i'd provide links to the above words "dooced", "cynthia mckinney", "amazing grace" and "jonathan kozol" if the MAC i'm using would let me. boo Safari. so instead, just google them.
