the kings of Argon
i've been listening to hillsongs "blessed" album quite a bit lately. good cd. the more i listen to it, the more i like it. but it's funny how sometimes you think a line says one thing when it really says another. such is the case with the song "shout of the king"...
i know the song really wouldn't say, "shout, all the kings of Argon", but i swear that's what it sounds like. i don't know where Argon is or where their kings are, but i was shouting to them. so i looked it up tonight and the line is actually "the shout of the king is among us".
now i know and will stop shouting to them.

no excuse
andrea yates. those two words make me want to throw up in my mouth a little.
she's home with her five kids and they're driving her crazy. she gets the first one, takes him in the bathroom and proceeds to drown him in the tub. she yells for another one to come into the bathroom and then drowns him too. she does this three more times until all five of her children are dead. i can't even imagine the terror the kids must have gone through hearing their siblings screaming and girgling trying to take just one more breath.
i know she has mental problems. she obviously has mental problems. but spending the rest of her life in a mental institution just doesn't seem good enough to me. therein lies the dilemna: to what level of severity do you punish a mentally challenged person for crimes they may or may not have been aware they were committing?
sometimes i think "mental problems" is too good of an excuse.

this is my new nephew, javan. he's six weeks old now and christened me with his spit-up the first few minutes i held him. ha!
a friend of mine's parents are missionaries to lebanon. i hope they're OK. i sent an email but haven't heard anything back as yet.

conner's digestive system
after i dropped copeland off at band practice tonight, i took conner to mcdonald's playland for dinner. i know it's incredibly unhealthy, but it was raining and he was whining and i didn't feel like fighting with him. a 6 year old can put up quite a fight you know. we ordered our food; we ate our food; he played. then he had to use the bathroom. oh yeah. this is the kid who has to take off every stitch of clothing (including socks and shoes) when he goes to the bathroom. so we go to the bathroom and twenty minutes later (no joke) he was still pooping. i don't know what's going on with his digestive system, but i'm pretty sure it's gross. it smelled so bad. he kept saying, "it's hanging and won't come off". i couldn't get in to help him either because he had the door locked. i just had to stand outside the stall door and laugh. eventually it fell off and we were able to leave. thank God.

stand
what do you do when you've done all you can and it seems like it's never enough? and what do you say when your friends turn away and you're all alone? what do you give when you've given your all and it seems like you can make it through?
you just stand when there's nothing left to do. you just stand and watch the Lord see you through. after you've done all you can you just stand.

the scariest movie of all time
"mom, that was the dumbest movie i've ever seen."
that was what i told my mother after she let my sister and i watch (the original) psycho about 15 years ago. she was petrified during the movie. it wasn't scary to us though.
jaws. now that's a movie that makes me crap my pants every cotton-pickin time. (it's on tv right now btw.) everytime i get in the ocean now i hear the music from the scene when you first see jaws dorsal fin poke above the water and head toward the swimmers. you know the music, "dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum..." my nephew has seen the movie and laughs. it's not scary to him at all.
